    ·      Competencia consciente: ¡practica, practica y practica! Concéntrate en aplicar la habilidad o el comportamiento en una variedad de situaciones y busca oportunidades para recibir retroalimentación y refinar tu enfoque.

     

    ·      Competencia inconsciente: busca formas de seguir desafiándote a tí mism@ y de mejorar. Busca oportunidades de crecimiento y desarrollo y mantente dispuesto a asumir riesgos y probar cosas nuevas.

Además, esta forma particular de pensamiento se une a toda la riqueza de abstracciones que la mente es capaz de desplegar. El pensamiento reflexivo se une a los distintos tipos de pensamientos como el crítico, divergente, deductivo, creativo o lógico para influir con nuestras decisiones. ¿Cómo afecta esto tanto al lider consciente como a todas las personas que conforman un equipo? Veamos a continuación qué es el aprendizaje reflexivo y cómo es imprescindible para la construcción y transformación de nuestro entorno. 

    ¿Por qué es importante la reflexión en el aprendizaje?

    La enseñanza se define como un proceso en el que se conduce a los estudiantes hacia la integración de distintas capacidades con las que adquirir la competencia. En este proceso se utiliza la reflexión, como forma de ir más allá de la mera descripción de una situación. Este tipo de pensamiento es imprescindible en las 3 estrategias metacognitivas que se dan en el aprendizaje, autoplanificación, automonitorización (autocontrol) y autoevaluación.

     

    Ciertamente las tareas de reflexión plantean preguntas sobre un asunto en cuestión, siempre tomando distancia de él como vía con la que alcanzar una perspectiva. A su vez, el enfoque reflexivo es el medio a través del que analizar el comportamiento propio y ajeno, y ofrecer así respuestas. Por tanto, no solo basta tener una experiencia, sino que es la reflexión de esta la que nos permite recordarla y registrarla en nuestros conceptos. Finalmente, la tarea reflexiva conduce a abordar eficazmente nuevas situaciones, dándonos la oportunidad de corregir lo que deseamos cambiar. 

    Aprendizaje reflexivo grupal

    A pesar de lo que se suele creer, el aprendizaje reflexivo no solo se trata de una facultad individual. En efecto, la reflexión también puede ser un proceso colaborativo que implica experiencia, al mismo tiempo que incertidumbre. Vemos cómo se integran para dar lugar a un nuevo conocimiento.

     

    En el desarrollo del talento, aprender a reflexionar consiste en concretar indagaciones y componentes esenciales de aquello sobre lo que se trata. A este fin, se pone en un diálogo constructivo el pensamiento, no solo de manera interna, sino también con otras personas. Durante este proceso, se valoran las ideas y se añaden perspectivas adicionales, experiencias, valores, creencias junto a su contexto, para generar más preguntas. De este modo, los seres humanos logramos alcanzar una claridad para fundamentar la acción y los cambios. 

    Aprendizaje reflexivo en el desarrollo del talento

    La reflexión apoya la creación de significado y sentido, y como tal, ayuda a guiar las acciones hacia las metas de la organización. Igualmente, facilita explorar el pensamiento y el de los demás mientras se proponen soluciones, ajustan acciones y reformulan problemas. La poderosa combinación de hacer las preguntas correctas, volver a examinar las suposiciones, aplicar sentido, reformular y actuar sobre los resultados para adaptarse al cambio es fundamental para la innovación.

     

    La Universidad de Kent en UK recomienda la inclusión en cualquier tipo de aprendizaje el llamado ciclo reflexivo de Gibbs. Se han propuesto varios modelos a partir de su propuesta inicial, aunque lo más básico de esta tarea se refleja en el siguiente gráfico: 

    · Distinguir entre lo descriptivo y lo reflexivo. La descripción nunca utiliza reacciones emocionales, pensamientos o planes para futuros cambios o mejoras. Sin embargo, el aprendizaje reflexivo sí incluye qué aspectos sirvieron para aprender de nuestras propias acciones, así como conclusiones o llamadas a la acción.

    · Analizar comportamientos pasados para revisarlos desde el modelo de Gibbs.

    · Utilizar el conocido modelo CAR para valorar las experiencias a través del Contexto, la Acción y el Resultado.

    · Elegir una fortaleza y describir un momento en la que se utilizó, analizando resultados, sentimientos, impacto, aspectos que podrían haber sido diferentes y aprendizaje obtenido.

    La creatividad y la eficiencia que se reflejan en la expresión inglesa “pensar fuera de la caja” no se logran sin un método. El aprendizaje reflexivo nos enseña que ser brillantes no es suficiente para alcanzar la excelencia y la innovación. Este es el poder del aprendizaje reflexivo, ya que, como aseguraba Einstein “el mundo tal como lo hemos creado es un proceso de nuestro pensamiento. No se puede cambiar sin cambiar nuestra forma de pensar”.

However, not all learning is equal, and some methods are more effective than others. Moreover, learnings alone won’t make us grow and transform. We must also transfer the acquired learnings to our specific reality, apply it, and practice its application until it becomes part of how we behave. By understanding the four stages of learning, also known as the four stages of competence, we can develop a more effective approach to personal growth and development.

    There is some debate among scholars and practitioners about the true origin of the four stages of learning model.  Some attributed to Abraham Maslow, but others affirm that the four stages of Learning were introduced by Noel Burch in the 1970s; however, there is evidence the model was first used by Martin M. Broadwell in 1969 in an article where he was explaining the practice of “teaching for learning” using the competence model.  Despite its age, this model remains relevant and widely used today because it provides a clear framework for understanding how we learn and develop new skills. In recent years, advances in neuroscience have confirmed the validity of the model by demonstrating how our brains forms new neural pathways during the learning process. Additionally, the importance of self-awareness and reflective practice in effective learning has become increasingly recognized. The Four Stages of Learning provides a useful tool to assess our own learning and growth, and to become more self-aware in our learning journey.

    Learners in the stages of learning model will find themselves falling into 1 of 4 stages as they transit the learning journey: unconscious incompetence, conscious incompetence, conscious competence, or unconscious competence.

    The four stages of learning

    Stage 1: Unconscious Incompetence

    The first stage of learning is known as unconscious incompetence. At this stage, we are unaware of our own lack of knowledge or skills. We may not even realize that there is something we need to learn or improve upon. This can lead to complacency and a lack of motivation to change. To progress to the next stage, we need to recognize that there is a gap in our knowledge or skills.

    Stage 2: Conscious Incompetence

    The second stage of learning is conscious incompetence. At this stage, we become aware of our own lack of knowledge or skills, but we are not yet proficient in the desired behavior or skill. With practice, we can gradually develop a more automatic and efficient process for applying the skill or behavior.

    Stage 4: Unconscious Competence

    The fourth and final stage of learning is unconscious competence. At this stage, the skill or behavior has become second nature, and we are able to perform it without conscious effort or attention. This stage represents mastery, and it can be a very rewarding experience. However, it is important to remember that even at this stage, there is always room for improvement and growth.

    By understanding the four stages of learning, we can develop a more effective approach to personal growth and development. Here are some tips for each stage:

    Hoy en día se habla mucho de la neurociencia y los numerosos aportes que podría traer a nuestra vida personal y profesional, si aplicamos lo que vamos aprendiendo de ella. El conocimiento del cerebro, cada vez mayor, no solo ha desmontado muchas creencias del pasado, si no que ha abierto una vía muy útil para cada día poder vivir una vida más regulada y por lo tanto, más libre.

    ¿Qué es la neurociencia y cómo podemos usarla a nuestro servicio?

    La neurociencia, según la RAE se define como “ciencia transversal que se ocupa del sistema nervioso o de cada uno de sus diversos aspectos y funciones especializadas”. Dicho de otra manera, se trata de una rama de la ciencia que se dedica a estudiar el sistema nervioso y nuestro cerebro.  Actualmente se pueden identificar 4 áreas de la neurociencia que se han visto fortalecidas por las investigaciones: la cognitiva, la afectiva o emocional, la social y la educacional.

    Los avances en la neurociencia en estas y otras áreas han permitido comprender mejor cómo funciona nuestro cerebro y cómo podemos aplicar este conocimiento para mejorar el aprendizaje y la creación de nuevos hábitos, más funcionales y adaptativos.

    En este artículo, vamos a describir tres premisas de la neurociencia que pueden ser utilizadas para fijar el aprendizaje y crear hábitos nuevos.

    1. La importancia de la plasticidad neuronal

    La plasticidad neuronal se refiere a la capacidad del cerebro para cambiar y adaptarse. Durante mucho tiempo se creyó que el cerebro era una estructura fija e inmutable, pero ahora sabemos que esto no es cierto. El cerebro tiene la capacidad de crear nuevas conexiones neuronales y reorganizar las existentes en respuesta a estímulos y experiencias. En otras palabras, la inteligencia no es fija, ni lo son las capacidades, ambas se pueden desarrollar gracias a esta característica de nuestro cerebro.

    Esta capacidad de plasticidad es especialmente importante en el aprendizaje. Cuando aprendemos algo nuevo, nuestro cerebro crea nuevas conexiones neuronales que nos permiten procesar y retener la información. Además, la plasticidad neuronal también nos permite deshacernos de hábitos viejos y crear nuevos hábitos más saludables. 

    Con este conocimiento, podemos cambiar nuestra forma de reaccionar o nuestro comportamiento y a través de la práctica y la repetición conseguir que ese nuevo comportamiento se convierta en un nuevo hábito que forme parte de nuestro hacer.

    1. La importancia del descanso y el sueño

    El descanso y el sueño son cruciales para el aprendizaje y la creación de hábitos nuevos. Durante el sueño, nuestro cerebro procesa la información que hemos aprendido durante el día, lo que ayuda a consolidar la memoria y mejorar el aprendizaje. Además, el sueño también es importante para la creación de hábitos. Cuando dormimos, nuestro cerebro se encarga de reforzar las conexiones neuronales que están relacionadas con los hábitos que estamos tratando de crear.

    En el lado opuesto, la falta de sueño puede tener efectos negativos ya que cuando no dormimos lo suficiente, nuestro cerebro no tiene el tiempo ni la energía necesarios para procesar y consolidar la información. Esto a su vez puede afectar negativamente la capacidad del cerebro para crear nuevas conexiones neuronales, lo que por consiguiente va en detrimento de aprender y cambiar nuestros comportamientos.

    Por lo tanto, asegurarnos de dormir lo suficiente y descansar regularmente, es, no solo necesario para nuestra salud física y mental, sino que también nos ayuda a crecer al aplicar los aprendizajes a los que nos exponemos en el día a día, tanto formales como informales.

    1. La importancia de la motivación y la emoción

    La motivación y la emoción son otros factores importantes para el aprendizaje y la creación de hábitos nuevos. Cuando estamos motivados, nuestro cerebro libera dopamina, un neurotransmisor que está relacionado con la motivación, la recompensa y el placer. La dopamina puede ayudarnos a concentrarnos y a retener la información que estamos aprendiendo. Además, la emoción puede ayudarnos a recordar la información de manera más efectiva. Cuando algo nos emociona, nuestro cerebro libera noradrenalina, otro neurotransmisor que está relacionado con la atención y la memoria.

    Por el contrario, la falta de motivación y emoción puede afectar negativamente nuestra capacidad de aprender. Cuando no estamos motivados, es más difícil concentrarnos y por lo tanto nos perdemos de información relevante para poder fijar los conocimientos. Además, la falta de emoción puede hacer que la información sea menos memorable. En ambos casos, el aprendizaje es mucho más difícil.

    En conclusión, la neurociencia sigue demostrando ser una herramienta útil para aquellos que buscamos mejorar y crecer en la dirección de nuestros sueños.

    1. La plasticidad neuronal nos muestra que siempre es posible aprender y cambiar, incluso en la edad adulta.
    2. El descanso y el sueño nos permiten procesar la información y consolidar a memoria y los hábitos que estamos tratando de crear.
    3. Finalmente, la motivación y la emoción nos ayudan a mantenernos enfocados y comprometidos con lo que queremos aprender y los cambios que queremos realizar en nuestra vida.

    Si queremos aprender y crear hábitos nuevos de manera efectiva, debemos tener en cuenta estas tres premisas de la neurociencia. Necesitamos aprovechar la plasticidad neuronal, descansar y dormir lo suficiente, y mantenernos motivados y emocionados durante el proceso de aprendizaje. Al seguir estas pautas, podemos mejorar significativamente nuestra capacidad para aprender y crear hábitos nuevos, lo que nos permitirá alcanzar nuestras metas y objetivos de manera más efectiva.
